Should Lions winger George North apologise for taunting Wallabies halfback Will Genia when he scored a try in the first test?
British and Irish Lions and Wales winger reiterates his apology in relation to his taunting point at Will Genia as he scored his try in the 1st Test v Australia.
Do you think North over-stepped the mark by taunting Will Genia in the British and Irish Lions vs Wallabies first test?
The ironic thing is that the Wallabies are known for taunting their opponents.
We all remember the motivation George Gregan's "four more years" call provided, or the Phil Kearns inviting Sean Fitzpatrick's two friends to a bbq, or Quade Cooper's taunting of All Blacks captain Richie McCaw provided for the All Blacks. It probably ended up hurting the Wallabies and helping to motivate the All Blacks.
I am of the opinion that while I wouldn't taunt my opponent like that, much like cricket sledging, if you talk the talk, you must be prepared to walk the walk.
I say good on you George North for standing up and apologising after your taunt, but I hope you are ready to be challenged tomorrow night against the Wallabies.
Should George North apologise? I say he shouldn't have to, but he must be prepared to be targeted in the second test between the British and Irish Lions vs Wallabies.
