By my count the Hurricanes won by 5. Shame the ref donated it to the Crusaders once more.
Once more I see the ref give the game to the Crusaders. So many half calls go to the men in red and black, plus a bunch of obvious calls missed.
I noted a long list of marginal calls, here's a highlight of two major ones.....
- Crusaders first try should have been an obvious penalty to the Canes. Read was several metres in front of the kick through, which he chased hard. Pedantic penalty, but still by the rules that was a simple 3 points to the Canes, NOT a try to the Crusaders. 10 point differential.
- Canes hot on attack late in the second half, trailing by one point. Player tackled in front of the posts, was NEVER close to released to play the ball, Canes player penalised for holding on (again). Should be a guaranteed 3 points to the Canes instead a penalty to the Crusaders
Put these into the mix and the score is reflective of the game, Canes win by 5 points.
The outcome of this game doesn't make much difference to the Super series, but why does this significant bias persist?
