Super Rugby Round 20 features plenty of dilemmas for managers, check out the guide here.
Super 15 Rugby Round 20 is finally here and there is nothing to lose for www.testrugby.com managers who need to gain ground on the pack with the play offs just around the corner. It seems to have taken an eternity to arrive for us Highlanders fans, but we have made it to the final match of the season for nine teams. The administrators really need to do something about the June International Test window which has seen a competition start in February and not finish for some teams until August. It will also be interesting to see how much stuffing the British and Irish Lions tour took out of the Wallaby players involved in Super Rugby Round 20.
There is little doubt over who will make the Top Six finals and hence be involved in the playoffs next week, but it is still undetermined who will finish in which spot. This is hugely important in a competition where home ground advantage makes a huge difference. There is a big difference between playing in Hamilton and playing in Pretoria.
For www.testrugby.com managers it is important to only pick players that will be playing deep into the playoffs. Sure you may have over 20 trades left at your disposal, but that has to last until the final! The only problem is that the top two teams, the Bulls and Chiefs will probably not be playing next week, because the Number 1 and Number 2 qualifiers get the week off. This makes those 25 trades you got given recently vital! They must whoever win this week to confirm these spots which is easier said than done!
To make things worse, there are some first choice players not starting this week in an attempt to freshen them up for the finals, or simply because they are insured. Players like James Horwill, George Smith, Will Genia, Luke Romano and Steven Luatua are just some of the players you shouldn't buy this week. Also don't forget to sell Adriaan Strauss as the Cheetahs have a bye this week.
Therefore there are only players from three teams to choose from in the Crusaders, Brumbies and Reds it seems if you want players who will play for the next two weeks. Another interesting temptation is that the Sharks are hosting the Kings and could post some big points this week, so it could be worth sacrificing some trades for the short term benefit. Another team which should win well are the Crusaders and so they are your best option for players.

Super Rugby Round 20 - Players to Watch
1) Dan Carter (Crusaders) - The only catch this week is that if the Crusaders are up by plenty over the Hurricanes then he may get subbed early, but assuming he is injury free and the Crusaders win handsomely as anticipated, then DC is your man!
2) Sam Whitelock (Crusaders) - With his All Blacks locking partner Luke Romano injured, Sam Whitelock is a great option, especially with Steven Luatua out.
3) Kieran Read (Crusaders) - Kieran Read was in ominous form last week against the Chiefs scoring two tries.
4) Peter Kimlin (Brumbies) - The Brumbies could sneak into the top two, but if results go according to plan then Peter Kimlin is a great value lock who will be playing next week and actually starts in the Number Six jersey.
5) Joseph Tomane (Brumbies) - Tomane has really come of age this season and is listed as a centre despite playing on the wing. He is a good value midfield option.
6) Israel Dagg (Crusaders) - With the Crusaders expected to score a big win over the Hurricanes, then Dagg is a player who could benefit with some tries.
7) Jesse Mogg (Brumbies) - Mogg will be fizzing after making his Wallabies debut against the British and Irish Lions and will be looking to score some tries against the Force.
8) Christian Lealiifano (Brumbies) - Lealiifano will be great value especially if the Brumbies finish third and he is playing next week.
Here are some other players worth a shot if you have plenty of spare trades as they won't be playing next week!
1) Riaan Viljoen (Sharks) - The Sharks haven't been named to face the Kings yet, but they should win well and if Riaan Viljoen is kicking goals then he will score plenty of points in Lambie's absence.
2) Tim Nanai-Williams (Chiefs) - Nanai-Williams is back in the Chiefs midfield and will be at his slippery best to face the Blues.
3) Marcell Coetzee (Sharks) - Despite the Sharks not making the playoffs, Coetzee will be a great option to score heavily against the Kings. Assuming he is named to start.
4) Tamati Ellison (Highlanders) - Centre is a problem spot for most www.testrugby.com managers, but Tamati Ellison could open up a can of worms against the Rebels in Melbourne tomorrow night.
5) Deon Fourie (Stormers) - Fourie scored two tries against the Kings and given he is playing at loose forward, he will make plenty of tackles against the Bulls.
6) Hugh Pyle (Rebels) - Sure the Rebels won't go even close to making the playoffs, but Pyle is worth a shot if you have some spare trades, especially given the number of quality locks that are injured. The Highlanders lineout has been poor this season.
7) Elliot Dixon (Highlanders) - Is a great value loose forward for the Highlanders. He was the top points scorer last week and plays a style suitable to getting www.testrugby.com points.
8) Kade Poki (Highlanders) - Poki is a livewire winger who has a great style capable of clocking up points for beating defenders.
9) Aaron Cruden (Chiefs) - Surely the Chiefs will bounce back and dominate the Blues this week. The Chiefs should confirm their place in the top two overall positions with a win.
10) Hosea Gear (Highlanders) - Hosea Gear will be playing his last game for the Highlanders and will be looking to unleash fury on the Rebels backs. Expect the Highlanders who are in their best form of the season to come out firing. Gear is one of the best www.testrugby.com players in the outside back category.
