It is do or die for teams with Super Rugby Round 18 having some mouth watering battles. The Bulls vs Sharks is the game of the round!
Super Rugby Round 18 brings the curtain down on the season for nine teams, while only the top six will survive to battle for the title. There are plenty of mouth watering clashes with the Bulls vs Sharks set to be a winner takes all battle in Pretoria. It looks like only one of these two Super Rugby powerhouses will survive unless there is some sort of trickery. This week will see teams that have already qualified for the finals like the Blues, Crusaders and Stormers playing derby matches, but any thought of collusion must go out the window. After all the effort that some teams have made to travel through the volcanic ash, the last thing that players from teams who will be eliminated is to put in a bad performance. It is the last chance for players to push for Rugby World Cup selection, while there are plenty of players who are putting on their team jersey for the last time. Players will leave as part of the exodus after the Rugby World Cup 2011, so there will be plenty to play for. Surely the two local derbies per country this round are enough incentive for teams even out of the reckoning, to give 100 percent, rather than let their opponent take their opportunity to get ahead of them in the pecking order for national honours. The other factor with derbies are the large number of tight games and upsets. You are never out of the running in tipping competitions with so much at stake!
For www.testrugby.com managers I have included the named teams so make sure your players are taking the field and not injured or suspended! It is time to take chances if you need to make up ground!
For the record my Top Six will be the Stormers, Reds, Blues, Crusaders, Bulls and Waratahs.
