Super Rugby 2013 Round 1 was an Australian only affair featuring at least three teams who probably won't feature in the finals of Super Rugby 2013. The Brumbies were the most convincing team on display, with Jesse Mogg the most impressive player with two tries and a good allround game. He scored 505 points. Mogg was excellent value for money for punters, although it is difficult to know which players are worth keeping, now that most teams will be playing in Super Rugby 2013 Round 2.
Stephen Moore and James O'Connor are usually worth keeping, while Hugh Pyle is that rare breed of try scoring lock. Mogg is potentially worth buying as a bargain priced outside back.
There were plenty of bargain priced players who scored well in Super Rugby 2013 Round 1, but I would be surprised if they became a more regular member of the Team of the Round. Players like Kyle Godwin, Angus Cottrel and Richard Kingi did well in Round 1, but would do well to return to the Super Rugby 2013 Team of Round 2!
The Reds were disappointing and need to turn things around if they are to have any chance of repeating their former success.
