Scotty Donaldson reviews Super Rugby Round 6, including reviewing the results, the role of the TMO and Team of the Round. What do you think?
Super Rugby Round 6 action saw plenty of tries being scored with some big wins for the Crusaders and Sharks, while the Waratahs high scoring victory over the Blues was probably the biggest upset of the evening.
The role of the TMO was called into question having to make plenty of important decisions in several matches and there were some moments when the TMO potentially should have intervened. It is great being able to call on the TMO for important decisions, but there were a couple of incidents in the Chiefs vs Highlanders match which made me wonder if the TMO should have the right to make decisions even when they aren't asked by the referee? When you think about it, the assistant referees are allowed to intervene even when they are not even asked. Should the players be able to call for the TMO to be used? Much like the cricket DRS system.
In the www.superrugbytips.com SuperBru pool, Damage has a small lead over the rest of the field, with Shaka and Chanti-Bell close behind. Gecko had won the gold cap with a great round. I also had my best round in ages. A big part of a successful SuperBru campaign is also getting margin points, which can be difficult when there are lopsided results. Sometimes close matches are easier to pick!
With so many high scoring matches in Super Rugby Round 6, there were plenty of players in www.testrugby.com who scored big points. Andries Bekker scored two tries and gave investors who have spent up large with this expensive lock, some bang for their buck! Kyle Cooper and James Parsons were excellent value for money, but are probably not long term front row options!
George Whitelock and Kieran Read benefited from the Crusaders large win over the Kings, although Kieran Read and the high scoring Dan Carter who just missed selection this week are not joining the Crusaders on their tour of South Africa.
It is great seeing rugby league convert Israel Folau in the Super Rugby Round 6 Team of the Round, while Quade Cooper and Chris Noakes showed that try scoring goal kickers are great investments!
The Sharks have the bye this week, while managers should prepare for Round 8 when the Chiefs, Reds and Bulls will have the bye.

Super Rugby Round 6 Team of the Round by country
New Zealand 4
South Africa 4

For once, there is an even spread between the three countries involved in Super Rugby Round.
Who impressed you in Super Rugby Round 6? Which match was your favourite? Should the role of the TMO be changed?
