Scotty Donaldson looks at the next round of matches at the Rugby World Cup. Which matches are you looking forward to the most?
Rugby World Cup 2011 continues with plenty of money to be made on the next round of matches. I am enjoying the headstart option at the TAB. It seems that the hectic schedule and lack of depth have taken their toll on the minnows. This means that there will be some major blowouts this week. Don't be surprised to see the All Blacks get close to putting 100 points past Canada. This is a day game in Wellington and the New Zealand team will be wanting to hit their straps before the playoffs. They will still be good even without some of their injured outside backs. Canada will be tired after playing Japan tonight.
Matches of note - Canada vs Japan
This is a great chance for both of these sides to get a win. I am picking Canada with their bearded grizzly forwards to win. They defeated Tonga who in turn defeated Japan and so I think they will be too strong. Watch for the New Zealanders like James Arlidge, Ryan Nicholas and Michael Leitch who hold the key to any chances for Japan.
Georgia vs Romania
This is the battle of the cellar dwellers in Pool B. Both of these teams have amazing scrums, but have plenty of work to do in other areas of their game. I am going for Georgia simply because they haven't been beaten by quite as much as Romania yet.
South Africa vs Samoa - This is a repeat of that match in 1995 which saw Mike Umaga nearly take someone's head off. Samoa are a better team than results suggest and if they were in another pool they may well be heading towards the quarter finals. They must win this match to have any chance of winning. Expect plenty of big hits.
England vs Scotland - Scotland are also playing for their lives in this tournament against their Calcutta Cup rivals England. This may not be an attractive game to watch, but it is crucial if Scotland are going to qualify. Judging by their current form they won't win it, but they are brave and derby matches bring out the best in teams.
Wales vs Fiji - Fiji have been disappointing this tournament, but they can do their Pacific Island neighbours Samoa a favour by tipping up Wales in this "Group of death" match. Wales are an improved team this tournament and should win.
Ireland vs Italy - If Ireland are going to finish top of their group, they need to beat Italy. Italy must win to qualify for the quarter finals, but that could let Australia finish top of the group and get an easier road to the final. Ireland are an improved team this tournament and should win.
