Scotty Donaldson looks at which players to watch and buy for managers leading into the quarter finals.
The Rugby World Cup quarter finals are here and there are several
players who will be important for the chances of their teams. There are
four quarter finals and with the mounting injury tolls of the Southern
Hemisphere teams especially, it pays to wait until teams are named
before making selections for managers.
The All Blacks are
favourites to beat Argentina and so they are the safest options for
filling up your team if you can afford them. Try to avoid Argentina
players in your squad unless they are bargain priced outside back Lucas
Gonzalez Amorosino.
Here are some players who I believe are crucial to the performance of their teams and should score some www.testrugby.com points. I believe goal kickers will be crucial this weekend. Remember that not all teams have been named at the time of writing this!
Wales - Jamie Roberts, Sam Warburton, George North, Leigh Halfpenny, Luke Charteris and Toby Faletau.
Ireland - Sean O'Brien, Ronan O'Gara, Rory Best, Keith Earls and Jamie Heaslip.
England - James Haskell, Manu Tuilagi, Chris Ashton and Lewis Moody.
France - William Servat, Vincent Clerc, Pascal Pape, Thierry Dusatoir.
Australia - David Pocock, Stephen Moore, Digby Ioane, Kurtley Beale, Quade Cooper and Adam Ashley-Cooper.
South
Africa - Bismarck Du Plessis (he will start from the bench), Danie Rossouw, Morne Steyn and Francois
Hougaard (if named to start in place of JP Pietersen).
New
Zealand - Jerome Kaino, Ma'a Nonu and Sam
Whitelock. Sonny Bill Williams if you want to risk him off the bench in future games but he is starting against Argentina.
Colin Slade will kick and could be worth a go.
Argentina - Mario Ledesma, Felipe Contepomi, Juan Manuel Leguizamon, Patricio Albacete and Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino.
