Sonny Bill Williams fights Francois Botha on Friday night, but can both SBW and Quade Cooper win their fights or should they stick to playing footy?
Sonny Bill Williams will fight Francois Botha on Friday February 8th, but has he bitten off more than he can chew? The fight could go 12 rounds and it will be interesting to see how Sonny Bill Williams copes given that his previous fights have only gone six rounds. The 44-year-old Botha is no stranger to that length of fight during his 60-fight professional career that featured tangles with the likes of Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko and Evander Holyfield. There is a fine line for Sonny Bill Williams, given that a defeat or serious injury in this fight could harm his rugby league and rugby future, although he will get plenty of money for this fight in Brisbane but he needs to fight a decent opponent to earn respect. Is Botha over the hill or has Sonny Bill Williams met his match?
Quade Cooper makes his boxing debut in the undercard fight and while many kiwis would love to see him lose, it will be interesting to see how he goes. It seems like a bit of a circus that both SBW and Cooper are trying to get the best of both worlds by juggling boxing and either rugby or rugby league.
I hope Sonny Bill Williams and Quade Cooper both win as it raises the profile of boxing, rugby and rugby league to have them involved in popular boxing events.
