Who are you picking to win Six Nations Round 2 action and which players should you buy?
I don’t know about you, but I am still buzzing after Six Nations Round 1. It is great to have some oval ball action to sink our teeth into again! France’s last gasp win over England has thrown a spanner in the works already and with Ireland hosting Wales this round, we could end up with two pre-tournament favourites sitting on one loss after two games.

Ireland vs Wales
The match of the Six Nations Round 2 features first round winners Ireland hosting Wales. Both teams have their respective captains returning to add some leadership to their teams. Ireland will add the experienced duo of captain Paul O’Connell and Gordon D’Arcy to their team for this crucial match, while Wales welcomes back Sam Warburton, while Gethin Jenkins and Andrew Coombs will start in the engine room.
I can’t wait for this match. Ireland are in better form under coach Joe Schmidt after some impressive recent performances against the All Blacks and Scotland, but Wales look to have the better side on paper. Can the experienced Ireland team cause an upset? Wales did beat Italy, but they were hardly convincing. Is form temporary and class permanent? I am picking an Ireland upset since this is BOD’s last shot at a Six Nations title. Is Joe Schmidt a miracle worker?
My pick – Ireland by 3 points.
Players to watch – Richard Hibberd, Jamie Roberts, Alun Wyn Jones, Leigh Halfpenny, Rory Best, Johnny Sexton, Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney.
Budget Buys – Scott Williams, Peter O’Mahony.
Scotland vs England
Scotland hosts England in the Calcutta Cup match and both of these teams need to make amends following their first round defeats. England must be favourites heading into this match and showed far more against France than the disappointing Scots did in their defeat to Ireland.
Scotland will have to improve if they are to avoid a hiding against England, but in an attempt to do that, the Scots have had to make some changes including replacing the injured Sean Maitland. While Chris Fusaro gets a debut in the forwards with Kelly Brown dropping out completely. Conversely, England have named an unchanged team for this match. Stuart Lancaster is giving his young squad a chance to gain invaluable experience moving forward.
Billy Vunipola was a www.testrugby.com stud last week scoring 500 points. England should win well against Scotland and so it could be worth a punt going for some cheap England try scoring backs.
My tip - Scotland can’t suffer another defeat like they did against Ireland, but England should be too strong. England to win by 14 points.
Players to watch - Stuart Hogg, Mike Brown, Billy Vunipola, Owen Farrell.
Budget buys – Tim Swinson, Luther Burrell, Billy Twelvetrees.
France vs Italy
These two teams met in the opening round in 2013 and Italy won. France went on to have dismal 2013. Fast forward a year and France are at home on the back of an exciting win over England and must go into their game against neighbours Italy as favourites.
The respective teams haven’t been named yet, but there are definitely some bargain purchases for managers of www.testrugby.com teams.
France should be too strong assuming coach Saint Andre can get the best out of his players, although the experienced Italian pack will be competitive.
It will be interesting to see if bargain priced players in this game like Yoann Huget, Michele Campagnaro and Leonardo Sarto can score as well this week!
My pick : France by 7 points.
Players to watch : Louis Picamoles, Wes Fofana, Yannick Nyanga, Sergio Parisse,
Best budget buy : Yoann Huget, Michele Campagnaro, Leonardo Sarto.
