Super Rugby can be difficult to predict. There are so many difficult results to predict, but if you are unsure 9/14 times the home team won.
Super Rugby Round Three starts with an emotional match in Nelson where the Crusaders will be wearing red and white as a sign of respect for the Pike River miners who passed away late last year. It is crazy how this match takes place just after another disaster in the Crusaders area where the earthquake has claimed hundreds of lives. It is hard to know how the emotion is going to affect the Crusaders, given the past months in the area. Can Trafalgar Park produce the same advantage that AMI Stadium usually does? The Waratahs are one of the best sides in the competition and it will be such a tough game in Nelson. This game is the match of the round.
What are your methods of making picks? I have had mixed results this season, but there are some important points to note so far about the results in the Super Rugby based on the first two rounds.
Home team 13+ 3
Home team 12- 6
Away team 12- 3
Away team 13+ 1
The local derbies with the exception of the Waratahs and Sharks 2 matches have been close.
When in doubt, go with the home team. They win 9/14 matches.
No team has won outside their home country yet.
SKY SPORT has a pick the score competition that I am involved in. Here are some tips for punters.
The rest of my picks are self explanatory. The Crusaders will win a tight one based on emotion. I can't wait to see the Sonny Bill Williams and Robbie Fruean midfield.
Teams: Crusaders vs Waratahs

Venue: Trafalgar Park
Pick: Home team by 12 & under
The Blues have made several changes in an attempt to freshen up players, but I think the Lions will sneak in. They have been unlucky twice so far against more fancied opposition. The Lions are paying $2.15 at the NZ TAB. I am putting a lazy $10 on them.

Pick: Home team by 12 & under
Surely the Chiefs can win this one and should win it easily at home.
Teams: Chiefs vs Rebels

Venue: Waikato Stadium
Pick: Home team by 12 & under
The Brumbies have a proud record at home and will be fired up after losing to the Rebels. What has happened to the Genia and Cooper combination?

Venue: Canberra Stadium
Pick: Home team by 12 & under
The Force are a plucky team at home, but the Sharks are always competitive on the road. I think this match will really help the Sharks gain momentum. The Force are not a bad bet here offering over $2 at home for the win. I am breaking my own rules by going away team 12 and under. Perth is too close to home for the Sharks.
Teams: Western Force vs Sharks
Time: 06/03/2011 00:05
Venue: ME Bank Stadium
Pick: Away team by 12 & under
The Stormers have the big names unlike the Cheetahs and should be too strong. Juan Smith is a massive loss for the Cheetahs.

Time: 06/03/2011 04:05
Venue: Newlands Rugby Stadium
Pick: Home team by 13 & above
I think this is a bridge too far for my boys, the Highlanders. The Bulls will be backed by a massive crowd and should be too strong and fast.
Teams: Bulls vs Highlanders

Venue: Loftus Versfeld
Pick: Home team by 13 & above
