Scotty Donaldson looks at Super Rugby Round 7.
Super Rugby Round 7 left most tipsters questioning their sanity after Friday night saw the Hurricanes and Rebels record upset wins, while later in the round the Chiefs secured a 34 all draw against the Bulls to leave most people who picked the Bulls disappointed.
Most people started Saturday with no wins from two games with less than four percent of SuperBru tipsters picking wins for the Hurricanes or Rebels and just over 500 people out of 160,000 SuperBru players picked both results.
The rest of Super Rugby Round 7 went more according to plan with the exception of the Chiefs comeback draw with the Bulls which was probably a relief for those who tipped the Chiefs who looked down and out late in the game. That late Aaron Cruden saved some people from an absolute disaster in Super Rugby Round 7.
Interestingly the Super Rugby ladder has an interesting look to it. The Sharks are at the top of the table overall and lead the South African conference, while the Brumbies still lead the Australian conference despite losing to the Rebels. The Chiefs lead the New Zealand conference still but only just ahead of the Blues.
At the other end of the table, the Rebels are the bottom Australian team despite beating the top Australian team in Round 7. The Crusaders are surprisingly the bottom New Zealand team while the Stormers and Cheetahs are the bottom South African teams. Twelve months is a long time for some of these teams after making the playoffs in Super Rugby 2013.

Rebels 32 - 24 Brumbies

There were two bonus points for teams finishing within seven points, while there was a draw for the first time in Super Rugby 2013. The home teams continue to dominate matches with only the Crusaders losing at home. The Crusaders are no longer the obvious team to pick anymore. There were two upsets along with the draw in Super Rugby Round 7.
