With news that SANZAR don't want to change their current 15 team competition, who should the new Southern Kings replace?
The Southern Kings will replace one of the current South African Super 15 Rugby teams after it was revealed that SANZAR are happy with the current "successful" format. This means that the Southern Kings will more than likely replace the bottom placed team which looks set to be the Lions. Do you think the Lions deserve to be relegated since they have performed well at Currie Cup level and have thrashed the Southern Kings in pre-season? Unfortunately for the Lions they haven't performed at Super Rugby level and this season has been another disappointing season for the John Mitchell coached side. Former Crusader Matt Sexton has been appointed coach of the Southern Kings, but it seems that no matter who they replace, they will struggle significantly. I wonder how many former Crusaders and Lions they will draw upon to bolster their squad? I assume that any good Lions players would be snapped up by other teams too. The Kings will need to draw on players from all over the globe including Argentina who are now in the new Four Nations Rugby Championship.
Do you think the Southern Kings should be included in the Super 15 at the expense of one of the current South African teams? Which team should it replace?
