The Rugby Championship Round 2 is here and there are some bargains, but be warned, there isn't umlimited trades!
The Rugby Championship Round 2 is here and while there are plenty of bargains, managers must be careful to conserve their trades. Managers of www.testrugby.com teams get 10 more trades in Round 5, but until then the punters must be careful. There are some dilemmas for managers. For example, Tom Taylor will be the starting All Blacks goal kicker and only costs about $500,000, yet he will probably only start in the match this weekend.
I have avoided owning any Argentina Pumas players as despite them being cheap, last weekend they were also very poor scorers of www.testrugby.com points.
There are also enough bargains to be had from the All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks, although some of these are because of injury and may not be long term.
Some of these bargains will allow you to save money in some positions so that you can buy two hookers as your front rowers and therefore get more consistent points for your team.
Most coaches have maintained largely the same teams, with the exception being Argentina.

The Rugby Championship Round 2 - Players to Watch
1) Tom Taylor (All Blacks) - Taylor is listed as a midfield back in www.testrugby.com but will be starting goal kicker for the All Blacks from first five eighth. He is so cheap that he allows you more squad flexibility. The down side is that he probably won't start many more games this season. He is a great short term option if you have the trades.
2) JJ Engelbrecht (Springboks) - This guy is a starting centre who is first choice for the Springboks and so is a good long term option if you are thinking of saving trades. He costs about $800,000, which is a relative bargain.
3) Scott Fardy (Wallabies) - Fardy gets his run on debut and is listed as a lock but will be playing in the loose forwards against the All Blacks. He costs just over $600,000. With big Hugh out for a long time, then Fardy could be a starting option to get you past the Round 5 trades splurge.
4) Ben Smith (All Blacks) - Given that James O'Connor's defence is shaky and Ben Smith is awesome at the moment, Smith is a compulsory buy. He is a try scoring freak.
5) Eben Etzebeth (Springboks) - Sometimes it pays to buy an expensive lock. Etzebeth is a genuine www.testrugby.com points scoring lock so he is worth paying a bit extra for.
6) Duane Vermuelen (Springboks) - Vermuelen will be a threat. He scored over 400 points last week and should do something similar this week, especially given how many low scoring forwards there were last week.
7) James Horwill/ Rob Simmons (Wallabies) - The Wallabies will attack the All Blacks lineouts and these two both scored well last week. Horwill will play the full 80 minutes as captain of the Wallabies and will look to challenge the All Blacks at lineout time which is probably their achilles if there is one.
8) Morne Steyn (Springboks) - Steyn is a compulsory purchase as the only listed inside back who kicks goals. Steyn should score impressively this week too and is worth his hefty price tag.
9) Steven Luatua (All Blacks) - Luatua is another bargain priced player who may make or break or season. It is rare to get an All Black so cheap, but he may be replaced by Liam Messam later in the season and so may not be a long term option.
10) Willie Le Roux (Springboks) - The cheapest outside back from the big three, Le Roux is one for the bargain hunters.
11) Stephen Moore (Wallabies) - Moore is hardworking and likely to get plenty of minutes for the Wallabies.
12) James O'Connor (Wallabies) - How does this guy keep scoring so highly? It seems that the style that James O'Connor plays is conducive to www.testrugby.com points.
If you are after a player from Argentina then your best bets would be Felipe Contepomi, but there are heaps of better options for your midfield. Juan Manuel Leguizamon is a hard working loose forward.
I would include Adriaan Strauss and Andrew Hore, but I can see their replacements getting some decent minutes.
