Try Assists not awarded

2 x Try Assists not awarded to Andries Bekker?? He setup both Nick Kosters & Jean De Villiers tries.

And Im also fairly sure Gio Aplon Setup the Jaque Fourie try too. Please check!!!!!! 173 Characters!

	20 . Saheti13 09 Jun 2011 10:55 AM Apron deserves the try assist... Did they not give it?....... Also you can agree and disagree all u like... The fact is if you don't understand the rules of rugby, you will not understand what I am saying.... In coopers case, he gave the ball to Lucas.... Lucas tripped.... When he got back up it is a different phase of play... The motions were not connected.. And if in any case the rules for try assist do categorically say "gift" a try. Again I say I have Cooper in my side... But we can not cry like spoilt children every time things don't go our way

Backdoorboys 09 Jun 2011 05:34 AM @Saheti13 I disagree with your comment about lucas falling to ground, if say cooper or any other player had beaten say three tacklers put Lucas away to the try line he tripped over his own feet went to ground got up stumbled over the line scored the try that player would not be given an assist.......????? @ DEEP I have to agree with GRASS Stains why not simplyfy it..... last kick last pass etc, SCENARIOS are making things to complicated at Test Rugby and I'm sure you can tell there are alot of people who are not happy.
	18 . Grass Stains 09 Jun 2011 03:26 AM Scenarios???? Also news to me after many years of playing. Remove the debate - keep it simple - Last pass/kick to try scorer - SIMPLE. TRY Assist definition: "Player A (APLON) beats a defender then passes off to player B (FOURIE)for a clear run to the line" Scenario: If Aplon did not pass to Fourie would the team have scored? Probably not! Because Aplon had to draw a defender first to setup the try scorer (assisted the try?). Aplon would have scored himself if there was no defender.
	17 . Saheti13 09 Jun 2011 12:27 AM They have grounds for coopers try assist not being awarded. Lukas fell to ground... That is by rugby law a break of play. Meaning that it was a separate play, after he fell and got back up. I had Cooper.... But this is a technically good call... So well done testrugby and everyone else stop throwing taNtrums
	16 . Huisgenoot Mama's 08 Jun 2011 07:02 PM If Aplon, Bekker or Cooper wasn't there - no try would have been scored - hence a try assist. It doesn't matter if it's side stepping 13 players then offloading or just a simple pass - your making this too complicated. If a players abscence means the try would still have been scored then I agree, but in all 3 cases this weekend it was clearly a try assist. This is just my opinion.
	15 . deep 08 Jun 2011 09:43 AM ...and that is where the debate was, not the Bekker assists! As noted in our definitions the player must do more than simply be a link or give the last pass, they've got to do something at least a little additional to lay the try on. There are zillions of scenarios and many will be debatable - we're doing our best to be consistent.

	10 . deep 07 Jun 2011 01:24 PM After review and debate among the team we agreed the that interpretation of 'Try Assists' in the Rebels v Stormers game was wrong. 3 Try Assists have now been awarded - 2 to Bekker and 1 to Januarie. Tries in other games were also reviewed, but no changes made.
