How are you going to get a competitive team in www.testrugby.com? Do you have enough trades going into the Rugby Championship Round 3?
The Rugby Championship Round 3 features what looks like contrasting matches with the All Blacks vs Pumas expected to be one sided, while the Wallabies and Springboks should be tight.
The problem for www.testrugby.com managers is the number of trades. Unfortunately you don't get a new allocation of 10 trades until Round 5. There have been plenty of injuries and team rotations to key players that it is a nightmare trying to get a valid squad. The All Blacks have used plenty of Number 10s in their first two games which eats into those trades. There is also such a discrepancy in player values. Another problem is that you really need players who will be starting for the first five rounds of the Rugby Championship. Tom Taylor and Francis Saili are cheap players, but if they are only going to play one game then there is not much point buying them. Steven Luatua is in a similar boat, with Liam Messam waiting for a return very soon. It all depends on which position a bargain priced player is in, because sometimes it could be worth having a non playing cheap lock or even front row forward or midfield back, so you can afford at least three goal kickers.
Ideally you want plenty of All Blacks try scoring backs because they should score plenty of tries against the Pumas.
What is your way of balancing your side allowing for a lack of trades and/ or money?
I am going to start with Saili and rely on the fact that he will score heavily against Argentina. I will then hope he gets some minutes off the bench in later tests. Otherwise he will stay inactive in my team, but it is a sacrifice to get Carter, Steyn and Lealiifano in my team.
While Bismarck du Plessis is back, I think both him and Adriaan Strauss tend to share their minutes. This means you don't get much value in your front row forwards and so it can be better to save money going for a James Slipper or Juan Figallo.
Wallabies skipper James Horwill is out injured for the next few weeks to set the cat amongst the pigeons.
Which players are you picking in www.testrugby.com in the Rugby Championship Round 3?
For the Rugby Championship Round 3 team lists named go to
http://www.superrugbytips.com/p/rugby-championship-2013-squads.html
1) Dan Carter (All Blacks) - The All Blacks will thrash Argentina and so Carter will earn plenty of points assuming he doesn't get injured. The All Blacks Number 10 jersey has been an injury prone one in recent times.
2) Francis Saili (All Blacks) - Francis Saili is dirt cheap and will start against Argentina in place of the injured Ma'a Nonu, but he may not play much more in The Rugby Championship. He should carve up against Argentina and may score a try or three on Saturday night. He is a risk given that Nonu should be back next week, but he could make some cameos off the bench, but given how cheap he is, it would allow you to purchase Dan Carter and Morne Steyn in the halves. Steven Luatua is the same with Liam Messam likely to return shortly.
3) Willie Le Roux (Springboks) - Willie Le Roux moves to the wing for the Springboks but is still the cheapest starting outside back out of the top three teams.
4) Israel Folau (Wallabies) - Folau has been moved from the wing to fullback and will see even more ball at the back since the Springboks will kick more than the All Blacks. He is such a good player with his aerial skills, defence and strength on his feet that he is always going to beat defenders and score heaps of www.testrugby.com points. He also has an eye for the try line.
5) Scott Fardy (Wallabies) - Fardy was on fire for the Wallabies in their last match and is a bargain priced lock in www.testrugby.com but starts on the side of the scrum for the Wallabies.
6) Christian Lealiifano - (Wallabies) - Christian Lealiifano is a goal kicking midfield back which is relatively rare in international rugby. He is a quality player, but can you afford Steyn, Carter and Lealiifano?
7) James Slipper (Wallabies) - This seems like a strange call, but since there are no real standout hookers scoring massive points then Slipper could give you a great budget front row forward and free up some money for the backs. He is averaging 140 points per game.
8) Ben Smith (All Blacks) - The All Blacks outside backs should have a field day against the Pumas. Watch for Ben Smith to add to his impressive haul of tries. It is interesting how he scores great www.testrugby.com points when he scores tries, but when he doesn't score tries, he doesn't tend to play the style that sees him get massive www.testrugby.com points.
9) Juan Manuel Leguizamon (Pumas) - Leguizamon will start at Number Eight and is one of the few Pumas who troubled the scorers in www.testrugby.com last week and will have a busy night against the All Blacks alongside his captain Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.
10) Duane Vermeulen (Springboks) - Vermeulen has scored at least 400 points in the last two weeks and so will be looking to repeat the dose.
