Bath Head Coach Mike Ford has promised that his side will improve following their defeat at Sale and has reminded fans who bet on rugby that there is still a long way to go this season.
Danny Cipriani was the catalyst for Bath’s 19-13 defeat, kicking 14 points in a man of the match display, and, for Ford, he was afforded the opportunity to dominate by the Sharks pack who never let Bath get a foothold in the game.
“The breakdown was an issue for us, they were pretty ferocious in that area and got on top.” the former England defence coach said. "It's hard to go away from home, lose that breakdown and also the drive. It's two fundamental parts of the game that they were on top of.”
Prior to their trip to the North West, Bath had won three of their opening four games, including an impressive victory at home to Leicester, and they would have been confident of coming away from the AJ Bell stadium with a result.
Despite his disappointment with the defeat, Ford knows that he has to pick his team up quickly if they are to get their season back on track, and he has promised that they will be working hard in the coming week to regain their early season form.
"This is a long journey for us, no trophies are handed out tonight but we'll take our medicine, get back on Monday and make sure we get better," the 47 year old added.
Bath travel to the South of France to face Bordeaux in the Amlin challenge Cup next Saturday. The latest rugby betting from bet365 suggests that they will need to rediscover their edge up front if they are to avoid coming home from another long trip empty handed.
