Six Nations Preparations Continue for Lancaster 4 views 0 Comments 0 Images
16 October 2013 by Englandfan See all

Stuart Lancaster and his England squad will go into the upcoming autumn internationals looking to find some winning form ahead of the Six Nations at the start of next year.

Last year’s runners up will warm up for this year’s tournament with a tough series of matches against Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand this autumn, where Lancaster will need to put thoughts of the Six Nations to the back of his mind.

But while Lancaster won’t yet be thinking about facing Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, and Italy just yet, the games against Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand will give those named in the squad for this autumn’s games a perfect opportunity to cement their spots in Lancaster’s Six Nations squad at the beginning of 2014.

With both Brad Barritt and Manu Tuilagi ruled out of England’s autumn internationals, one of the other centres has the chance to step up and take advantage of the duo’s misfortune and nail down the jersey. But it’s not just places in the centres that are very much up for grabs ahead of England’s Six Nations campaign.

After being pipped at the post by Wales in last year’s tournament, Lancaster will be desperate to get all areas of his team ticking in the run up to the tournament, in order to ensure the team have their best hope of success.

After winning last year’s tournament – and arguably the British and Irish Lions series in Australia – it will be Wales who will go into the Six Nations as the favourites in the rugby betting for the title. But England showed last year that they have come a long way under Lancaster and are more than capable of winning their first Six Nations crown since 2011.

But while fans who bet on rugby will be concentrating on Wales and England, the Irish and the French will both have something to say about the outcome of this season’s intriguing tournament.
