After weeks of speculation and plenty of words spoken by Betfair ambassador, Will Greenwood, arguably the world’s most sought after winger, George North, will be playing in the Aviva Premiership with Northampton Saints next season.
Having shone on the international stage with Wales, at just 20-years-old, North is one of the hottest properties in the game and, as of next season, he will be continuing his development at Franklin’s Gardens.
It’s yet another blow for the provincial game in Wales to see another of their top players move away but the Scarlets simply did not have the financial clout to keep a player of North’s talents in their ranks, as they have readily admitted.
Northampton lost one star winger in the form of England flyer, Chris Ashton, to now Premiership frontrunners, Saracens, at the end of last season and now North is more than capable of filling that void.
Saints chief executive, Allan Robson, said to Betfair.com: "He is an exceptional talent and one of the most formidable back-three attacking players in world rugby.
"We look forward with great anticipation to what he can bring to his performances with Northampton Saints next season."
North will be looking to finish the season strongly with the Scarlets and earn selection for the highly-anticipated British and Irish Lions tour of Australia this summer.
The dream for the Saints next term will be to have a more experienced North, who has just completed a successful winning Lions tour Down Under, who is ready to give them that extra spark of quality that could see them secure that elusive Premiership crown they have been yearning after for so many years.
