Australia utility star Kurtley Beale has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him return to his former club the New South Wales Waratahs after claiming that Sydney feels like his “home” after a difficult spell in Melbourne.
The creative player has endured a controversial spell down in Victoria with the Melbourne Rebels, as incidents on and off the field hindered his form for both club and country.
Beale showed glimpses of what he is really capable of in the British & Irish Lions series, as his running in broken play and ability to make something out of nothing really tested the tourists.
Now the 24-year-old, who of course still has plenty of years at the top level ahead of him, has returned to club he joined when he was just 16.
The rugby betting always tipped him to make the move and now his future is sorted Beale is hoping he can now push on with the club where he made his name.
He said: "I feel at home in Sydney, it's where my family are.
"The Waratahs are a team going places and I'm really looking forward to playing some good, consistent rugby.
"I've made the decision to get my shoulder right, I hope this next year will be a big one for me.
"I'm excited by the World Cup on the horizon and I'm just looking forward to getting back to playing really good rugby, having a big year for the Waratahs and hopefully getting selected for the Wallabies."
With Beale now settled in Sydney, Waratahs fans who bet on rugby will hope he will be able get back to his best form for both club and for the Wallabies, who both could do with a player of his quality in top gear.
