Leicester’s George Ford may only be in the England Saxons squad ahead of the Six Nations but the promising fly-half should be considered a real possibility if any injuries hit the squad.
The 19-year-old, who is being mooted by betting news pundits to join Bath at the end of the season, really is a person that could drive England forward.
International experience too early on in some player’s careers can ruin them, but if someone is good enough, then they are good enough. And Ford is certainly a class act that Stuart Lancaster must keep a keen eye on.
Imagine in two years’ time at the Rugby World Cup on home soil, if England had a team that featured both Owen Farrell and Ford; what an awesome duo of kicking to have in just one side.
After all, despite the recent destruction of New Zealand, England are a side that rely on good solid forward play and taking the points on offer. With Ford and Farrell in tandem, that could mean winning back the World Cup.
So, it seems England must make sure that Ford is given his international chance sooner rather than later, or else England may miss a talent in two years time when they may need him most.
According to the sports betting news, this year’s Six Nations should go to Lancaster’s men and it is worth bringing Ford into the squad if there is a chance. At 19, he will play without the fear that can grip players who pull on the white jersey with the red rose.
