England Must be on Their Game - Burrell 92 views 0 Comments 0 Images

England centre Luther Burrell is under no illusions about the size of the task facing his team when they meet France in Paris on Saturday, but he knows that he must keep his nerves in check and stick to the game plan if he is to contribute to an England win.

England registered wins over Argentina and Australia in the Autumn Internationals, with France chalking up a victory over Tonga, but neither side was able to defeat New Zealand and France also suffered a setback against South Africa in their most recent game, a result that surprised some fans who gamble with bet365.

With mixed fortunes for both sides in recent months it is tough to call the outcome of Saturday’s game but Burrell knows that England will be in for a stern test.

“I’ve got a huge amount of respect for France and their players with the amount of experience they’ve got,” the Northampton man said. “For me and the rest of the team, we’re really going to have to be on our game because we’re not going to get an easy path,” he added.

When Burrell lines up alongside Billy Twelvetrees on Saturday it will be his first international appearance and bet365 betting fans know nerves are inevitable; the key for him will be to ensure that he does the basics well and to make sure that he gets into the game early on.

“Stuart’s (Lancaster) just asked me to play my normal game and to stick to the game plan and structures,” the 26 year old said, with the same advice presumably being shared with the rest of the inexperienced England backline.

“The nerves normally go after I’ve had my first touch of the ball. Hopefully I can get out there, settle into the game and do the shirt proud. I’m really looking forward to it,” he added.

Burrell is one of an exciting new breed of England backs looking to impress on Saturday. If they ensure that the occasion doesn’t get on top of them then Stuart Lancaster’s men have the talent to record a famous win, but if they become overawed then it could be a very long evening in Paris.
