Once tipped by fans who bet on rugby as a long-term option to take over from Jonny Wilkinson in an England shirt, fly-half Ryan Lamb has not been able to reach the heights that were expected of him from his early days at Gloucester.
That’s not to say by any means the 27-year-old has had a disappointing career so far, as he has played for some of the biggest clubs in the Aviva Premiership, including London Irish, Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers.
However, rugby betting punters know the playmaker has never been able to settle and found himself behind the likes of Stephen Myler and Toby Flood in the pecking order at Franklin’s Gardens and Welford Road respectively.
But now Lamb is looking for a fresh start and a move to Worcester Warriors, to work under head coach Dean Ryan, looks set to give the No.10 a new lease of life.
Having signed a three-year deal Lamb is hoping to get his career back on track and in his late 20s, the stand-off has plenty of years of top class rugby ahead of him.
He said: "The vision Dean has, I knew it was impressive, so that's why I asked for a longer deal and he gave it to me. I really want to repay that faith.
"It's a nice situation to be in, to come in knowing your future's secure, but that will only stay that way if I play well.
"I appreciate the backing put in me here, and I really want to repay it."
