Wales Searching For Hat-Trick 120 views 0 Comments 0 Images
18 December 2013 by Englandfan See all

Wales have been installed as early favourites at 15/8 with bet365 for the Six Nations Championship in 2014.

Warren Gartland’s side are looking for a hat-trick of consecutive titles. They did so in 2012 with the Grand Slam, while earlier this year they edged out England by beating them in the final game of the campaign 30-3 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Wales have been boosted by the news this week that Gartland has signed a contract extension that will see him work with the national team until at least after the 2019 World Cup.

The New Zealander has been with the nation since December 2007 and has won two Grand Slams with them in that time. He also led them into the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup where they beaten by France 9-8.

England are second best at 9/4 in the outright market to gain revenge on Wales. They had mixed success over their winter internationals. They did manage to defeat Australia at Twickenham 31-12 early in November, but then later that month they were beaten by New Zealand 30-22.

Fans who bet on rugby can find France at 11/4. They were crowned Grand Slam winners in 2010 but finished last in 2013.

With just one win to their name from their five fixtures, it was one of their most disappointing campaigns in their history. They got off to a bad start when they lost in Rome in Italy. Defeats followed at home to Wales, away to England and then they drew to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Ireland have only once won the Six Nations in its current format. That victory came in 2009 when they also won the Grand Slam that year. Bet365 put them in the outright rugby betting market at 5/1.
